Autometer Sport-Comp lighting

Anyone have any experience with Auotmeter Sport-Comp gauges at night? They have "around the dial lighting" as opposed to some of the more expensive gauges (cobolt, lunar, C2) that have "through the dial lighting". I had the Lunar gauges in my 2001 GT and visibility was not a problem at night. I'm going for a more subtle/classic look in my '91, but am concerned about night-time gauge visibility. Any experiences?

Thanks,
WES

I put 3 of the Autometer Sport Comps under my radio and they work great. I used the green bulb cover and it matches my dash good.

No complaints here.
So the lighting is bright enough for you? I'll be replacing the instrument cluster in the dash with all Sport-Comps.

Also, what gauges did you put under the radio. I have a plate that will mount a DIN size radio and three 2 1/16" gauges under it. I was a little worried about the viewing angle being bad.

I have ultra-lite gauges in my car and I can see everything perfectly at night. I tried some of those blue bulb covers to match my reverse glow stock gauges, but it made it too dim to see at night. But when the bulbs are normal, no complaints.

I used the water temp and oil pressure mechanical ones. I also have the volt meter one. I did it so all my stock gauges still work.

I used the angle pieces you can get from autometer so the gauges are angled towards the driver. It took a little work to get them to fit with the angle and all, but well worth it once it was done. I have no problems at night with the bulb covers. It gives it a nice green glow.

I also have a few sport comps. The birightness was too much for me witohout the green bulb covers on. Put the bulb covers on and it is a great match to the rest of the interior. If you are not happy with the brightness, you could swap out the bulbs? I am pretty sure they are a standard type.
