Ive got an autometer 5701 Phantom mecanical vac/boost gauge. It has a 6 foot length of nylon tubing. I want to use it to measure the vacuum on my car. Two questions:

1. What vac hose should I tap into?

2. What size T connector will I need. I believe the tubing is 1/16.

Thanks

To clarify Mootang's statement, you will want to see manifold vacuum. Some lines are regulated via solenoids and will give bad readings and cause system issues.

Mootang, the FPR is the one line you really dont want to Tee into if you can help it. The secondary tap can be enough to cause some FPR's to act up (if yours doesn't, no worries).

you could hook up to the Vac tree. or if you have removed your purge valve hook the line up to that ..... under the manifold.

Iam curious if you hook up to a big line like the line that runs from the manifold to vac tree, would the reading be more/less accurate than hooking into the purge valve line????

Bosko, if your vac system is 100% efficient, it should not matter. They generally aren't so the purge line might read a hair lower (kinda like voltage drop).
