I have to drop back again for reverse. Pull back again a now i am in neutral. Another pull and I am in drive or over drive. Something's not right.. yeah it was a PITA having to remove the entire console and radio for a shifter install but nothing hard. Just a lot of little screws and having to maneuver it back over the B&M shifter

Wait, this is the 2nd new shifter? Definitely sounds like your cable is not adjusted properly. It took me a few times to get it right. That was the biggest PITA as it was just me having to go back in and under the car. It was a little hard shifting at first, but after a day or so it shifts nice and smooth. I lift up once to get out of P to R, then it should simply slide back once to N then again for O, D, 1. When you upshift all you do is ratchet up once through each gear and you don't need to pull up on the spoon until you get to R. You should hear it click each time you shift.

Did you put the shifter and the shift arm on the trans in neutral, loosen up the shift cable, then slide the shift cable back and forth to make sure it is not binding, then pull the slack up on the cable and retighten up the cable. Make sure the shifter will go through all the gears. I will say this- I have read complaints about the shifter being hit or miss- that the biggest complaint is there is not enough room in the cable to engage all the gears. Some people have needed to take the arm of the shifter where it attaches to the cable and put it in a vise and straighten out the bend to make it straight and give it just that little more reach. Others have fabbed up a small bracket to attach to the shift arm on the trans to extend it out an inch or so , again to give the cable some more room. If your cable is old, I would at a minimum spray it down with some WD40 as it may be binding. The B&M requires more effort than the stock shifter. It may also be stretched - another common complaint- which requires a new cable. I would have someone sit in the car while you are underneath ( car supported on jackstands of course) and have them go through the gears while you see the shift arm move. See if if moves from P to 1 freely.

Another thing could be- did you reassemble the shifter properly when you put the spoon, springs, washers, and pin in. It may not be engaging fully.

Finally got it after a million adjustments on the cable...... And of course I forget to hook up the connections behind the radio, so everything back out and back in. Now of course new problem... Iam idling at like 1800 rpms in park and neutral. When I shift into gear the rpms drop back down to where they should be. Always something with this car lol.
