Back From Shop: mrvax's Mustang gets Whacked!

OK! I just got the car back from Car-O-Van in Orlando Florida. They did a great job with the repairs. :nice:

The cost was just over $4000 because it had to go to Ford and have some air bag sensors replaced and a pinched wire repaired.

The car is actually better than when I bought it in December of 2001. I no longer have deep hood scratches and the front bumper cover used to be filled with small nicks from the original owner. I'm really pleased with the job they did.

Here's a cell phone photo:

I was told not to wax it or use a wash with wax for 6-8 weeks to let the paint fully cure. Is this unusual? The repairs, including paint have a lifetime guarentee.

That's a very common practice. The paint needs to cure really good as it still may be soft and you don't want to to alot of rubbing on it. Also don't hit it with a pressure washer for a little while. Turned out great and good luck keeping it from getting hit again :)

The car looks great but is running like poo-poo.
I believe the plug wires need to be replaced again. I've had Rousch red wires on it since about 2002 and they are messed up now.

Bought some std black OEM wires today from a Pep Boys for $70.

That's correct. There's still solvents in the paint that need to evaporate, so waxing it will cause your clearcoat to get hazy because it will prevent them from evaporating. Glad you're ok, hope everything goes well for your daughter. My best friend and I got into an accident in February of 2001 where we slid into a parked car in the snow. My neck still hurts to this day.

Wow...I missed this. Glad everyone was OK.

What a dumbass. Your rt fender and his left QP and you rear ended him. Morons. Obvious he came into you.

Should have taken the hammer to the other headlight and claimed it was part of the accident. :D

I got him in his rear left 1/4 panel and the rear left bumper. I admit I hit him as much as he hit me. The problem is that the bastid drove in such a reckless way, I had no way at all to avoid him.

20 ft. further down the road & I could have entered the start of a left turn lane.

I still can't believe he may have actually thought he was in the right! Geico should force him to attend driving classes until he understands what he did was really screwed up. I'm happy with his Geico insurance company. They took good care of the Mustang.
