Back in the saddle again

Since parting w/my 02 GT in 2004, I have been dealing w/very poor gas mileage in my slightly lifted 4WD F150. Looks like I'm getting back into another Mustang. I'll find out if the vehicle I want is going to be mine by the end of today or tomorrow. I'm trying to get my hands on an 07 GT Deluxe in Tungsten w/blk charcoal int., 5spd, IUP, 3.55's. I was looking for an 03/04 Cobra, but I really didn't want one that was modded and finding a stock low mileage Cobra is very difficult.

I've been out of the Mustang realm for a couple years now, but I'm looking forward to the first mod already. I'm leaning toward the exhaust and then computer. Any other first mod musts?

I have the exact same car, but black, that you're talking about. Mine stickered at 28K, but got it for a little under 26K with x plan. First mod should be some aftermarket lower control arms to rid you of the horrible wheel hop.. Then a cold air intake of your choice and a tuner.

I did the same thing you did, I had an 02 GT, got rid of it for an Audi, then got rid of that a year later for my 07.

I haven't expierenced the wheel hop like other people have mentioned, so I'd have to say the first mod(s) I'd recommend would be CAI+tune from either Bamachips.com or Brenspeed.com. Both are very well known and offer great custom/mail order tunes. Also, Bamachips will adjust your tune for free and email it to you after you mod your stang more, no matter where you bought the parts. That combo is typically good for around 20-25 horses, plus over all, it makes it alot more fun to drive due to lack of throttle lag, etc...

Next up would be axle-backs and an off-road pipe. You won't get very much in the way of horsepower from them (5-8 or so, mainly from the mid pipe), but hey, the sound alone is worth it!

I would then probably look at some springs to drop it a little bit.

Other suspension mods are always a great mod to do as well, including the UCA's/LCA's in case you do experience wheel hop.

Sticker is $27305. My wife works for a Ford dealer, so our price is considerably lower at $23600. I've been working on my mod list already. The very first thing (within a day or 2) will be tint. I live in Texas and summer is around the corner. Then it'll be exhaust w/an O/R H or X pipe and replacement mufflers or axelback. Then it'll be a tune. I'm really hesitant on a CAI, because I may go forced induction after I hit 10k miles. I never noticed an advantage w/CAI in the 02. I'm tinkering with the wheels and tires idea for an immediate change, but I'm not finding anything appealing yet and not sure to do 18,19 or 20's.

I pulled the stereo,amps and subs from my truck, so I will install all that in the Mustang before the ink on the paperwork is even dry.

I hope I grow up someday. I'm 32 and still modding the ***** out of every vehicle I ever get. I'm never satisfied w/a factory car.

I hear you. I will probably never get tired of modding cars. Your list of mods is very similar to what I'd be doing. I'm really interested on the Pypes O/R H and the Flows combo. I'm also very very attracted to the price of the Pypes axleback paired w/the Pypes O/R H. I haven't even taken delivery yet and probably won't until Monday and I almost ordered $1700 worth of stuff yesterday. I have an appointment for tint already as well. I hope the driver picking up my ride doesn't crash it. I feel like I'm jinxing myself.

Car is en route to me from Oklahoma to Texas as we speak. I should take delivery on Sunday or at the lastest Monday, dealership is closed on Saturdays. I just placed an order with Brenspeed for the Pypes O/R H, Pypes axleback and the JLT 2 intake and SCT XCAL tuner. Haven't even received the car yet. HAHAHAHA

I'll consider suspension mods when I get the car. Hopefully this is a Tuesday or Wednesday car and it won't have the wheel hop.

This was an understatement as I quickly found out today. A friend and I installed the O/R H-pipe earlier today and holy **** it's loud. IMO, it's too loud so this won't be my final setup. I may just keep the Pypes axleback and go back to my OEM h-pipe. It sounded good like that and I got a ton of compliments in the week I had that setup. So if anyone is interested in a Pypes O/R H let me know. I would be interested in a trade plus cash for some lowering springs.

Otherwise I hit 1600 miles on my car and loving it more than my 02.

You would be suprised at how nice it will sound with the stock axle back and OR H pipe. Try that out first if it's too loud.
