I haven't been on here in a rather long time. I owned two mustangs before this. a 93 and a 90. Both 2.3L. Now I'm ready to jump back into one. I don't believe I'll end up getting the sn95 because I like the fox body more but I'm not opposed to a sn95.

Now the really big question I'm wondering is gas, I know why get a V8 if your looking for great gas mileage and thats not really what I'm looking for. I'm looking for moderate gas mileage. As of now I drive a 96 ranger, 31's, 5 speed manual, with 170,000 miles. I'm not getting the best gas mileage and it really sucks on the highway. For the most part I cruise on roads with very little city driving. What would be yours guys usual gas mileage for these kinds of conditions and is there anything that helps this type of driving (other than not having a lead foot. Also anything special to look for on these engines and vehicles that I might not know.

I wouldn't mind a 2.3T in either a Thunderbird, SVO mustang or even swapping a 2.3T into a regular 2.3L mustang as I'd get pretty decent gas mileage as I drove it around before the swap and even after.

So help me out and figure out what to do, I really want to have torque and I don't want to go with some import with no torque.

you know i used to get just over 20 mpg in my 94 cobra and it had 3.73's! It had a chip in it, so that may have helped. i did get 17 in the city, but one tank on the highway i even saw 22! I think there was no secret, just the right stuff done in the right areas: TB, headers, MAF, all smog stuff hooked up and working, but with 2 chamber flows, 3.73 gears and the supeerchips chip.

just thought I'd throw out there that moderate gas mileage in a V8 is not unheard of.

good luck!

ha ha ha. Ok well looks like I'll be getting a 2.3T or a regular 2.3L and swapping that out. There are two turbo coupes near my house but I don't know what kind of condition they are in. Maybe I should just go and check them out and talk to the owner.
