Bad gas or what?

Well yesterday i was getting onto the parkway and i was close to the wall and i heard loud pinging...Never heard it before...I just had 3.73's installed and a new fuel filter....what can be causing the pinging...Bad gas i did put gas in it Sunday possible???...I mean the timing is untouched i dont even know what it is...I mean this is my daily driver 93 GT vert AOD...so what can it be???

what grade do you run? 87?

Since the day i got it i have ran Regular 87 i guess it is...Never pinged before now it is?...weird no...

Check timing just in case, it may not be it but it takes 5 min and then you can cross it off the list

True....i was thinking uping the grade of fuel to see if it goes away too...

Even with 87 you can still get pinging. Depends on the quality of gas, weather conditions, heat, load on the car and the level of carbon deposits on the valves and cylinder heads.

If you find that you ping more and more frequently on 87, it might be time to start using 89.

I had to make the jump to 89 a while ago. Pretty sure i have some good carbon on my heads.

87 octane and the crappy gas around here, i think u would be fine with some premium gas.

i might go check out the whiskey c. sat night u goin this sat?

Yeah i know the gas is crappy but it never did it before now all of a sudden its pinging weird no?...

Yeah i might go this sat...if i get done in time have some painting to do [house]....lol...

wow after being in the fuel industry for so long i cant believe anyone would run 87 or 89

Luckily I have no choice but to run 93 now (nitrous) so I don't have to debate goin cheap anymore

Yeah i think u just got some bad gas ....happen to me a couple weeks ago and check out Shaolin Crane comment (scary) with my compression i use only premium plus ive been expirementing with small amounts of xylene with great results .....shoot me a pm if ur goin sat maybe i'll go

Maybe possibly loose exhaust? It has happened to me. Tighten everything up and was fine. Just throwing it out there if nothing else works.
