89 GT 5 spd.
First to go, I believe, was the stock ignition coil. Would crank but no fire. Had to tow it home. Drove it fine 2 more days then crank but no fire again. Replaced the coil and I think it started once, has been going on for weeks so cant remember for sure, but then wouldn't crank. Took out the Ford Racing mini starter I'd been using for years and it tested bad. I ordered a new Summit mini starter and it started once and then would not crank again. Removed and tested bad. Got another new starter on the way.
I heard that if the ignition switch on the steering column is bad it can fry new starter after new starter but can't find anything to corroborate this. It's only a $20 part so was going to replace that too before trying another new starter. Any thoughts?
Sequence of events:
Running fine
Crank but no fire
New ignition coil
No crank, Starter died
New starter started once then died
Fender wall solenoid is clicking so that's ok its also brand new
Thanks,
