Yesterday I started the car to move it so I could mow the grass. I try to drive it atleast once a week or so. When I startd it it had a horrible miss at idle so bad it was pouring smoke, and then I couldnt get it to rev past 4K. So I bypassed my 6AL and just ran the coil, much to my shock the car is running even better without the 6AL, save for the fact that it doesnt fell like its pulling as hard. Any Ideas guys.

Thanks

Forgot to say that I did the test on the MSD site and had a beautiful spark that was about 2 inches long. And I also forgot to mention that I have been chasing this hesitation problem at part throttle that doesn't happen when the 6AL is not connected. My question was do you think it's the 6AL or could it be the coil, etc..

Thanks

Since all the issues go away with the box circumvented, that answers the question, doesn't it?

Yes, but no. Because the box tested "good" and the power has dropped significantly in the upper RPM range, however it seems like I gained low RPM power. Plus the other problem I have been having, the hesitation and backfire through the intake all gone after I bypassed the 6AL. I have not yet pulled codes will do that tomorrow. I am curious to see if the 41/91 have gone away.

pulled codes got the norm. 41, 91, 33. Also pulled the "pill" cleaned the prongs, put the pill back in, re-installed the 6AL in the loop, started it up and it idled smooth. took it for a drive and it pulled hard, but under load it "pops". I dont understand, it doesn't pop under load with just the coil, but just the coil is no where near as strong.

I don't see anything in your sig to suggest that even a healthy stock ignition should not be up to the task. I'm not sure why you notice a lack of performance without the box, unless the box is masking something wrong with the stock ignition and exacerbating it at other times.

Do you have a spare coil to try for a little bit?

Do you know why you're generating those codes?

I have not yet been able to track down the 41/91 but the 33 is because the guy I bought the car from took ALL of the smog stuff off including the EVR, I still have the egr but its useless until I buy another evr. I do not have another coil that I can try right now. My next step for the 41/91 is to remove the intake and make sure all of the gaskets are good I think the plenum gasket may need to be changed I reused it when I re-did my valve seals. I dont understand why the coil isn't suffice for the stock coil either.

Thanks for your help
