So Im driving along I hear clicking right and like squeaking. No big deal, but then I start hearing like bursts of clicks and the motor would bog down, wasnt sure what was up. I figured one of the rockers had come out of adjustment, well I bring it home and pop the valve cover off from where the noise is coming from. Just as I suspected one of the rockers was out of adjustment. No big deal, readjusted the valves and put it all back together.

Well I start it up and I still hear some light squeaking, I drive it easy and it doesnt go away, even got on it a little bit and its fine. Later on in the night this prelude pulls up next to me and wants to go. So I let him go a little bit then absolutly blow his doors off, I come off the gas and it sounds like someone hitting my motor with a hammer. Extremely loud ticking, never heard anything like it. Now Im worried because its not coming back and going away, its serious this time. I bring the car home take it apart again the next day and the same rocker came loose. No clue what was going on.

Well the next day I delve into it more and see that when I turn the motor over the valve is barely opening. So I suspect the lifter being collapsed so I take the intake off and this is what I find.

Im assuming the cam is chewed up, the oil pump is definitally seized as it probably sucked up all the metal from the lifter. Im looking around for a new bottom end and a new cam, not a big deal I have a DD and the stang WILL BE BACK! Just nice to have a blown motor under my belt now. Btw that is an FRPP lifter that is less than 1 year old. Go figure....the stock lifters are going back in.

This is probably the least sane, least rational thing I've ever heard. I like to have builds under my belt, not blown motors.

the screen on the pickup shouldn't have let much metal get in to the oil pump.I would drain the oil out and see how much metal comes out.Maybe take some kerosene and pour it down the motor(flush out any other pieces). That is what i did the last time i broke a dizzy gear.

The cam might be usable too, if that lifter wasn't rotating in the retainer. You might have to nice grooves in the outside of the lobe but the center where the roller rides, might be just fine.
