Bad News for 65stanger

That Rally Pack looks awesome in the truck! You should be able to order the Rally Pack harness from any of the mustang suppliers and just wire it in as if it were a mustang.

You can see they are pretty cheap.

that isn't the issue, for some reason my colors don't match the wiring diagrams I have found sofar. the clock is no problem just has a +, a -, and a light wire, but the tach has 3 wires , and the wiring diagram has 2 and non of mine are the right colors. Don't want to risk blowing the baby up.

the wires I have are;
Blue/blk
Green/red
Black

All the info you need is here - http://www.hammar.dyndns.org/~djhamma/wiring/1966/66acces1.jpg

The red/green apears to come from the back of the ignition and the black goes to the pink resistor wire so that the tach is in series between the ignition and coil. This rings a bell to me because I have read that if your tach fails the ignition dies. The third wire should be blue/red for the light.

That's the wiring diagram I have, but my wires are Blue/blk and Green/red i guess I can assume g/r is r/g and hope for the best, but it doesn't make any sense that blue /blkwould be lights, the light wire on the clock is correct (blue/red)

PS. another thing I just noticed, the 2 wires in the diagram , one has a male bullet connector and the other a female bullet, all 3 of my wires are male bullet.

I think your best bet would be to open the case and trace which wire goes to the light (should be pretty easy). That would leave the other two to go inline between the ignition and resistor wire. If you get them backwards it should just peg the tach at zero. Or look for any diiodes to help figure out the current direction.

I think your right, I'll probubly do just that this weekend.

I dunno, WORTH; this could lead to disatrous results if you get it wrong. As an official Electronics Geek and wire-twister, I'm thinking you may end up toasting that hard-to-find original Classic Mustang Accessory. :nonono:

Maybe you'd better let 65stanger put it to use in an honest-to-God Mustang like Sally.

Okay, FUZZY, this oughta make up for that whole "Wild Turkey/Thanksgiving Turkey" issue. :D

BDT,

If you can find them, or ask one of us, classic threads like my "topless" thread, or Pak vs Hop, or some of Hungrymonkey's early stuff is priceless!

We were seriously out of control!

Hey now, I have been on my best behavior and nothing but since my ban was over turned by 2bav8.:nono: I can't even remember the last time I was in a flame war and don't intend to be in another ever again. Sure I always enjoyed a battle of the wits but I grew tired of fighting unarmed men. Pak is fully reformed and guys like that don't get under my skin anymore. Well, you come close some times Dan but I can always vent to Deanna on AOLIM. Man, some of the stories she's told me. (oops)

So worth, I guess the one I posted for you in the other thread was no help either? :dunno:

Great, harpooned by my own daughter!

BTW Pak, working again yet? My Deanna is coming on the 7th, is yours?

Not yet but that's partially intentional. Spending just about every day on the Stang!

I doubt it, she's got bacon to bring home and very different interests than I do. Though I will say as much as she used to whine about cruising with me with the top down and getting her hair all mussed up, after 2 summers without it she's starting to miss it too. Well, at least the times we wen't out for ice cream or got invited to a huge Warner Bros Records bash at some millionaires house two towns over. She was hoping to impress!

Good to be back. Another plus of having way too much free time on my hands.

Now I just have to remember to spend some time with the search function and catch up on all the times my name has been used in vain.:D

Instead, use a picture posting tool, and update us on the rebuoild of your car.:D

Heckuva Hijack, eh?

Well, spending actual time on the car itself has prevented me from keeping the gallery that I have used to document it up to date from where I am today but here's some stuff I think you have already seen.

http://www.1969stang.com/gallery/Car-and-tech-pics

I'll get all the pics up in a day or two just for you guys though.

I have to say that even though it took about 80hrs of labor I think the Shelby rear end that I custom glassed to the stock tail panel came out frickin' spectacular and almost worth every penny!

Looks like we're gonna have a contest to see who'se car makes it back on the road first. I still have to pull the motor & D/S front suspension, and then weld on the new mounts. Then it's re-assembling time...

Oh I am sure you will win Dan, I am going to take my time re-assmbling. Remember I have to put together a painted car so I have to be extra careful.
Plus I don't have your skills.

You inspired me so I am uploading 28 new pics to my gallery right now. You know I hate hyjacking so I will start a new thread as soon as I am finished.

However, since I could not have rebuilt my busted tail light without all those extra sets you gave me when we first met to pick up cobrask8 #1 (so many parts not available repro still) I'll put this one up now just for you! Aren't you proud I am going budget as much as possible? The only parts I purchased for these were all the new gaskets!
