Does the engine seem to be missing on some cylinders, or does the engine just feel underpowered like a 6 cylinder engine?
Definitely check the timing. Sometimes, if the hold-down bolt isn't tight enough the distributor can rotate and change your timing.
Check your cold air intake and make sure nothing has gotten sucked up in there. When was the last time you cleaned your air filter? If it's dirty and plugged, it could be restricting the air intake. Also check and clean the MAF and ACT sensors. A quick search on "clean maf" will give you that info.
well my MAF and air filter both have about 200 miles on them so thats not the problem either. I'm not sure if I'd describe the problem as the engine 'missing' but like you said, it just feels underpowered. I had the car dynotuned and he was playing with the timing, and the car felt amazing after, and then it started running like it is now. Maybe he didnt tighten that bolt all the way like you said....
so how do i go about checking the timing?
