Bad rattle under my car.......?!?!

This just started recently... it's a really annoying rattle that sounds like its in the exhaust... when i'm driving and let off the gas and let the engine slow the car, its reeeallly loud... but when i give it a little gas... it quiets... revving it also makes it get louder... it's a really annoying rattle crackle kind of sound, its weird... i'm guessing it's a busted muffler baffle?? any other ideas... mac shorties, no cats, flows (not sure how old, were on the car when i got it)

Take something and bang on the exaust. It's most likley a broken cat.

i have my buddies stock pipe in my car so i can pass echeck...he said the hangers were cut off it (i dunno?) but now my rattles alot like you're describing....maybe get under there and check it out??

then again i dont know too much really...just tryin to help

My first guess would have been Cats ( My cats did that ), but since you don't have them...... Maybe something in your mufflers has broke loose?

could be a missing or loose bolt check them all, if they are all ok, then check your muffler to driveshaft clearance. if thats fine then its probably a bad muffler

Bad muffer bearings can sound like that. I wont go into more detail because the topic has been discussed many times in here.

That will definately cause a rattle. I borrowed a stock pipe with cut off hangers to pass emissions as well and noticed the same thing.

I think it probably is a bad muffler... they are all rusted up under there... Good reason to get a new catback!! 'cept I'm not sure what to get... got flows on it now

can you hear the noise if you bang on the muffler, etc? Or do you have access to a lift to listen while it is running?

sorry couldnt resist, but did you know muffler bearings actually exist?


Check to make sure your exhaust is not contacting the frame anywhere, otherwise hit it with a bfg and see where the rattle is coming from
