Perhaps he has the star adjusters on backasswards, ie right to left instead of left to right and the thing is tightening the shoes and getting thing red hot, but I don't think that would cause the vibrations. I don't see how the hubs of the drum got damaged if he was prying on it. The outer drum maybe, but cast iron doesn't bend all that well. If he thinks it is the hubs, gotta be wrong bearings or some other component.

The drum on the hub is where I'm talking about is a snug fit. The hub on the spindle is as it should be with new bearings and seals at the time of brake job.
