I was thinkin about stuff i wanted to do once i get my other car. (87 GT is 4sale). I figured i would start off right by doing the brakes and suspension work first.

I was thinkin of baers all around, and i was wondering how hard are they to slap in?

I figured while i had to pull the axles out i should put some gears and a trak lok rebuild in.

What kinda axles should i get? Mosers are like $260, and also what would i need to change to put 31splines in there?

What should i do to plant my wheels and still keep a decent ride? Trac Bars? I dont know much about suspension so can someone tell me what I should be looking for?

Also any tips/experieces would help too...THANX :nice:

Baer's all around. Sounds like you've got the right idea, but depending upon the size rotors and the type of calipers, you're looking at some serious coin. You will likely need at least 16" wheels for even their smallest rotors and calipers to fit. Are you going to go with 5-lugs or keep the 4-lugs? The project, itself, isn't all that difficult, but it can be a little time consuming if you are doing it yourself running lines, switching out the master cylinder, booster, and such. It took me 3 full days in the garage to pull that stunt off. It's just a lot of parts and it just takes time if you are doing it yourself.

You won't need 31-spline axles unless you've got some serious HP and plan on doing a lot of hard launches. Besides, if you are really set on 31-spline axles, you'll have to get a new differential that is specifically built them.

Suspension. I'll just say Maximum Motorsports for someone who is on a budget. Griggs Racing is also excellent, but they tend to be a tich more pricey. www.maximummotorsports.com I don't know exactly what kind of usage you had in mind...street, strip, roadrace, whatever, they can put together a nicely balanced combo for you that won't break the bank.

thanks for the info. how much did your brakes cost you. I think the kit should cost around $2k. and i will be running 18" wheels.
these are what i want

on a all black notch  :hail2:

a few more questions
how much better do you like your brakes?
Did you use any special tools?
Is it suggested that i get ahold of an air compressor?
And i should stick with the 28spline (i think) axles with a rebuilt trac-lok right?

thanks
