I'll be putting my new balancer on probably next weekend so does anyone that's done it have any advice?? I have an old torque wrench i use as a breaker bar, would that work to get the balancer bolt off?? Do I need to hold the flywheel so it doesn't move? And I guess I'm going to need a tool to install the balancer too, I'm not gonna hammer it in place, how did yall do it? Thanks!

Put the car in 5th and have someone hold the brakes. Use a breaker bar or a ratchet with a pipe on the end for leverage with a 15/16" socket. Use a removal puller tool and an install tool. Put a little lube on the bolt and torque to appx 90 ft/lbs.

All of the above and you will have to take the fan and coolant resevoir out to get the HB puller on.

Been covered many times if you feel like searching. Mike and TGGT have ya covered. Also dont forget to remove the washer under the crank bolt before putting the removal tool on.

I neverseize the ID of the new HB and some folks like to dope the keyway up (I dont - a personal thing).

Good luck.

You can also put on a breaker bar, rest it on the ground (the correct side) and bump the starter. Bolt comes right off, I've done it twice.

The romac I had for my stock 302 went on pretty easily. Putting the romac on my scat crank was, how can I put this, "not easy". I had to use many 4 letter words to get that thing on

The stock style balancers are easy to put on and take off. You don't necessarily need to remove anything to get a puller on. My Harbor Freight puller fits no problem.

OT . . .
I needed to ice the crank and bake the Romac to get that thing on. THEN I had to tap it with a mallet to get it on far enough for the bolt threads to catch. I think I didn't bake it enough though . . .

Sounds like a pain in the A$$ with those Romac ones, luckily mine's just a stock replacement.
