Balancer Wobble

I was messing with the car today and noticed that the balancer looks like it has some wobble to it....but the belt wear just fine and it only has 80 k on th engine.....didnt notive any other vibrations or anything when driving and dont really have the cash for a balancer but dont wanna wreck my bttom end either ...is alil owbble with no vibrations anything to worry about?

Mine did the same thing at 80K. I drove with it for about 2K miles and then replaced it with a Professional Products SFI approved balancer from TMD (The Mustang Depot) in Las Vegas, NV. Glad I did when I saw the original. The outter ring was about to come off. You don't want that to happen.

By the way, you won't see any unusual belt wear because the crank pulley is attached to the center part of the balancer. The center is connected the end of the crankshaft. The wobble you see is definately the outer ring which is held in place by a thin piece of rubber to the center part of the balancer.

I wouldnt bring the motor up past 2500rpms until you get that balancer just to be sure.

i replaced mine and the new one wobbles also. i took the new one back and bought a different brand and it wobbles also. im just guessing someone maybe tried to jack my engine up by the balancer for some reason and bent the front shaft of the crank??? my engine is on borrowed time as it is so replacing the crank would be a huge waste of time.

If it is a stock balancer, check for the rubber coming out from around it. That is one positive sign the balancer is headed out.

If I dont see any rubber coming from where it meets the block is there still reason to worry? I dont think I can get the money ofr a new one for 3 or 4 months

Are your sure theres no rubber coming out of the back? I looked at mine, didnt see anything, then looked again at a later time and saw it was about shot (dont know how I missed it) If its still fine, you shouldnt have anything to worry about. But if you need a new one, dont get a stock replacement... it'll crap out on you fairly quick. Search for a Power Bond or Pioneer balancer. I think they are the same thing and go for cheaper than a romac
