Ball joints

so i shook my front end yesterday while i was switching back to my summer wheels and i found play in the ball joints on both sides. after talking with a friend i was told its a common issue. just wondering whats a good company to go with. ive done a lot of work with moog. like I said just seeing what others are using

You can buy Steeds ball joints, or buy complete GT-5oo control arms, they have stronger ball joint then regular GT

I just did mine with the GT500 control arms. The control arms have to come out anyway.
These control arms are beefed up with stronger welds and dont cost much more and simple to install.

From what I understand everyone seems to replace the whole assembly. Is there a reason that a ball joint can't be pressed in?

Ive heard that the pressed in ball joints can crack the control arm or come loose later.
It makes more sence to buy the GT500 arms $229. a pair than pay $$160. for the Steeda ball joints.
and have to do more labor and end up with an inferior result.

The gt500 arms had the same crappy ball joints that failed. They were all upgraded sometime around 09. The upgrade was making them a tiny bit larger; still a crappy part. Use moog or steeda; if you're worried about them coming out just throw a weld on there.

How are the ford racing control arms??

The GT500 control arms are Ford Racing. They are cheap and awesome.
Look at the ones that AmericanMuscle has and read the reviews.

I know its more expensive but what about the BMR Tubular A-Arms?

That's my plan - BMR K-member and A-arms with the tall ball joints (for lowered cars).
