Ok guys, I did a search for bamachips tunes and got a lot of information, seems like a good company. I also talked to Doug and he is definately informative and helpful, if I decide to get a tune I am going to buy from him. So here is my question for anyone that has one of his tuners.

On the 87 octane tune how big of a difference does it make????? My wife drives this car 70% of the time (she only drives 15 miles a day and I drive 110), and I know she will never put anything other than 87 octane in it. To protect the car I will have to leave it on the 87 tune unless I know I will be driving it for a few days. If I am going to use the 87 tune most of the time is a tuner worth it???

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Oh yea, its a 2005 GT/auto. Only mods are magnaflow axle back and K&N.

While the biggest gains are seen using 93 octane, you will definitely see great improvements with an 87 tune. You will see a great performance improvement, but the biggest gain you will see is your shift points since you have an auto. Doug is the man when it comes to tightening up your shift points. It'll feel like you put a race tranny in there. You can't go wrong with Doug, no matter what tune you go with.

I have the auto trans as you do. I got my SCT tuner from Brenspeed. I drove it around with the 87 tune for several days while running the tank low enough to fill it up and switch over to the 93 tune. With the 87 tune there was a tremendous difference with throttle lag/response and shifting. I increased the shift pressure in all gears by 5% and put the rev limiter for the shifts back down to 6000RPM(the tune came with them set at 6800). I will set it to 6800 for when I go to the track and keep it at 6000 for everyday driving-easier on the drivetrain that way I'm sure. I'd say you'd be quite pleased if you drove around using the 87 tune mostly.

+1 on the Brenspeed in an automatic, it made a huge difference with the 93 tune and it shows on the time slip.

Bamachips fan here. This time slip proves dougs tunes kick butt. 87 octane tune was used on this run.

I'm using his 'race tune for 93 octane' and it definitely is aggressive. Not unlivable though, and though I have yet to take it to the rack, it feels like it will make a real difference.

Ok, that explains alot. Your 60' time was .15 quicker than mine and you ended up running .136 quicker in the 1/4 mile than I. One question for you...do you have the Shaker1000?

Doug has had some problems with his website if your contacting him through there. I have his 93 Race, 93 Tourque, and 87 Performance. there is a diff with the 87 but the 93 tunes are amazing! Just tell your wife to put 93 in all the time! lol

That would be your loss, Doug is a easy guy to talk to, he never hurry's you to get off the phone, and he will email your tunes that day. He is a one man show, you get him and him only , not some flunky answering the phone and B.s. you the answer that you ask. In my opinion you are making a very big mistake. Call in the morning, not at lunch, he also might be out of town doing a custom tune.
