So......it's a 5.0 that has been ridden hard and put away wet with about 800,000 miles/ 4 million hours of idling. Is this about the heavy duty steering rack and oil cooler that is now 30 years old? What makes special services cars special?

It got a god awful white gauge on it now :/ got some extra wires going in and out of itI want to see a picture of the gauge cluster Im always interested in those cop cars. Is it a 160mph

Here is another way to look at it. The cars never came from Ford with radios, lights, markings etc. They were delivered and looked just like any other LX coupe, and various police departments did their thing. Drilling holes everywhere, installing radio's, sloppy paint jobs, etc. I have never been a fan of the cars that were "restored" to look like an old highway patrol car, but to each his own.
These two cars are SSP's, and this is how they were delivered except I had put pony rims on mine. (mine is the blue one)

I guess the point I am trying to make is don't get too caught up in the "police car" aspect of it. Make a nice car out of it. No matter what it will ALWAYS be an SSP car as that is what it came off the assembly line as and has the buck tags to prove it. If I had just left mine 100% stock I'm sure the value would be higher but it's not what I wanted to do. Mine has gone through a lot of changes over the years, and is far from original but it is my car and I enjoy it.

Guess I don’t see the hype in an SSP car unless it’s legit intact and still has the markings, radios etc. As mentioned cool you have a heavily worn and ragged motor. It really no longer looks like an SSP car just another hodge podge notch. For the price sweet pick up, but everything has been taken off and it just has remnants besides I guess the motor. Are you planning to get it back looking like an SSP car?

Hell yeah I hear that man, but I’d love to recreate a tx dps cruiser. They just always looked so mean!!Nope. Planned to gut her and toss her as a roller. Now I plan to keep and build up over time. Into what? Most likely not a police replica, I like to make one off's.

Really? Even just the paint? I can see the no badging etc. Shoot here in tx I’ve seen retired dps crown vics everywhere, spotlights still in, just de badged, but when you roll up on one from a distance or they are coming up behind you, it gets you puckered. Then you see the homie cruisin and you are like mother f’r!!!! There is a guy selling this one which I would love to have. The SSP cars also had a single key for both the ignition and doors/trunk.
I can't say I've seen the actual law, but that's what I've been told. I was told there's one FHP fox body in FL owned by a trooper and he needed permission to have it painted in their colors.Really? I know of one 1991 FHP car fully restored in MA, but the owner doesn't drive it. He's got some really cool other cars also included the Back to the Future Delorean that was at the Boston Science Museum.
Based on this, 93 Cobra's had a different bumper and side skirts, outdated boring old iron gt40 head, and a sub par disc brake setup? What makes them special?
