Dont forget that subs are created for specific boxes alot of times for the best output

I second the sealed enclosure... im running the enlosure with 2 ten inch kicker subs and a 100x2 kicker amp. i mounted the amp to the enclosure and ran all the wiring through the enclosure itself with a plug on the back so i can take the enclousre out completely if i want.

Okay, I will admit it: I am a psycho! Besides that, I like fast [okay, scary fast] cars and clean, loud music [okay, I want the ability to remove anyone from the car with the stereo...no James Bond ejection seat required].

Solution: if you look at the linked thread on my 'vert, we built dual roll bars behind each seat [come on, Iacocca wanted this car to be a 2 seater...]. Nestled inside of each roll bar will be an Elemental Design 16Ov.2:



They will be wired w/ each 4 ohm vc in parallel, and each speaker in parallel, presenting 1 ohm to the Elemental Design 9.1 producing 1200w @ 12v:



Look...I turn 50 next year. If you're going to have a mid-life crisis, have it in a totally insane 40+ yr old Mustang 'vert w/ 800+ hp and too much stereo.

Seriously, getting adequate bass in a convertible is always hard as you lose cabin "near field" reinforcement. Even your house is better. Basically, this system will have to supply bass to the entire world, w/ the response dropping exponentially as you get away from the driver. In my case, this car should play loud and clean...20+ feet away.

Yea, a convertable is going to be tough. I have 2-12" mounted behind the rear seat powered by an old school fockford fosgate punch 150 and they are plenty loud but your going to have a hard time doing anything except maybe a box in the trunk I'm afraid.

I have aftermarket seats that are bolted flat on the floor so I am not sure on stock seats, Maybe. I just like to REALLY hear my music and the 12's do a great job of that. Not BOOM BOOM mind you but good deep bass, heck I have 4 tweeters in the dash area. But I am a true music lover and have been known to sit in the car to listen to new Cd's as it sounds much better that my home system.

iskwezm, I may not be using the right terminology, but did you just connect the bass enclosure port to the interior of the car without having to cut 12 inch holes in the trunk panel?

I ran 2 3" port tubes to the side where the top folds down. The box had too many angles, so the bass started to break it apart. Now im going to 'glass the 2 Orion 12's into the spare tire well.

The reason people use a sealed box is because theres no guess work in making them. In a ported box,theres more room for error and they can sound horrible with the wrong port.
