Hello,
Can anyone tell me If I'm really going to get any more Horsepower If I remove the Stock mufflers for Steeda,Flowmaster,Bassani or any others?
I'm also wondering How much HP is a Catted Bassani X pipe giving me over the Stock H?
Any help would be well Helpful! :rlaugh:

You will actually get much more horsepower if you switch out the mufflers, the problem with the X pipe only is that you are opening up the exhaust, then choking it right back down again so you are really not seeing the full benifits of your X pipe.....

Adding an aftermarket exhaust system will allow you to see the full potential of your X pipe, along with the added gains of having better flowing mufflers

I know I'm going to get flagged for this but I saw dyno sheets with just a cat back and then the cat back with the o/r x. No it was not in a magazine. It was a bassani Stainless exhaust on a 99 Cobra vert. Not sure what kind of dyno but with the cat back it gained roughly 13hp and 10lbs at the wheels. The o/r x only gained 1hp at peak and softened the botom end on tourqe slightly. On the flip side of the coin the Cobra reached peak alot, did I say alot faster than with the factory H. Unfortunatly there was no test drive in between the install but he said the car pulled alot harder after the exhaust. He also said he couldn't believe that only 14hp made that much of a difference. With that being said get the cat back and a good mid pipe. Dr Gas X pipes I have heard don't hurt low end tourqe due to the placement of the crossover being closer to the manifolds. MRT's H pipe looks pretty good too.

There was also a article in a mag recently that showed the same results on a stock GT.
