Bassani X with cats bad, need replacement...Any Suggestions?

I have the Bassani X with cats and i failed NOx do you think if the cats were bad it will fail the NOx part of the emissions? What other highflow system can i go with that have better results? I heard the Magnaflows cats work better. any ideas or suggestions?

register on a local forum, find someone who can pass your car for you or ask for a suggestion for a "hotrod" friendly shop

what kind of smog test do you guys do? is it an idle test or is it a test on a dyno? cats do affect NOx. a lot of german cars have issues passing a dyno test in CA because they dont use EGR valves, and that drives the NOx readings up really high.

Thanks for the suggestions i was wodnering though, since the tech scans the vin number how can they "pass" the car? thanks

We do a dyno test. a 15mph and a 25mph test. If i suggest them running the car in 1st gear will that help? since the RPM will be higher. So bad cats will drive up the NOx really high, or just the EGR drives up the NOx really high?

well there is a RPM range in which you have to run the test. did you have you EGR checked out? like is it functional? also are you running the car really hard before you bring it in? you want the cats to be redhot when you test it.

I did get the EGR tested for vacuum, and the mechanic sprayed something in it to clean it out. I did run the car hard, i was keeping it in the 4-5k rpm range and shifting there, and i drove around for about 10min like that before i took the car in. I think it was pretty hot after that. I will get those Guarantted to pass bottles and see if that works

Aftermarket companies don't guarantee that their catted pipes will pass emissions, so your cats aren't necessarily bad.

I would say just get a midpipe without cats and swap the stocker back in for inspections.

My Bassani X-pipe wouldn't pass emissions either. It's the reason I had to take it off for the time being. It was also making me run really rich. If you find another way to make it pass please let me know.

Sounds like tried just about all the tricks that I know as well. Have you looked at your plugs lately? And definately, when you do go back, go back with the cats nice an hot as before.

I will run the car hot before i go, I heard that will help. Also retarding the timing will help also I think, at least thats what i heard. I will prob retard a couple of degrees.
