For this move to be NHRA track legal there must be a cut off switch present.

I have done this many times by running the alternator charge wire to the battery. Then run a feed wire from the battery, through a cut off switch then to the front of the car to power everything except the starter.

I recently read about a method that seems smarter to me. Leave the charge wire alone. Alt to solenoid.
Instead cut the alternator field wire and run it through the switch at the rear.

Anyone done it like that?

Nope, don't do like this. But this is a new method. I would like to know more.
