Battery light on at high rpms?

While I thought this was normal, as I remembered my '99 GT always doing it, my friend said this is a definite problem. When I shift late at high rpms (nearly redlining it), the entire car just dims and the battery light comes on. What's the problem here, and do you have any explanation if this is normal? Of course, as soon as your shift, the battery light goes off and the car resumes normal operation. Never any sort of problem with this car for years, but I'm told high rpm battery light is not normal. Battery is new by the way. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Also, I purchased a replacement battery for my car at Orileys. The car would start hard. So I went with a battery with more cold cranking amps.

They said the old battery tested OK but it was borderline for the cranking amps for my car,

Ive had no problems with the new battery.

Since your car is already running when it acts up its not likely the battery.

Autozone can test the brushes and diodes in your alternator while it on your car.
