Battery Powered Impacts

^this is for tightening fasteners that are not torque to yield.
It allows for the calibrated elbow where indicated. :D

If I'm going to wish for an electric impact wrench, I would like to put my bid in for a half-inch 40V version with the reversible F/U setting.

Unfortunately those hammer drills are huge and won't fit in a lot of places, especially in the Miata. It would be awesome if they added dial-a-torque to the little impacts.
This is why I like milwaukee. My 18v impact has 3 settings. Low, medium, and high. It's the 1/4" hex drive version commonly found at home depot. My 18v, 1/2" also has 2 settings for low and high torque/Speed. Then I have the 12v 3/8" ratchet. The combination of those 3 pretty much allow me to do anything I need. There is still no replacement for common sense in some aspects.

I didn't see the 3 setting one, may have to check again. I did see one that you can control with a smart phone app. Just what I want to do is whip out my smart phone with my greasy hands in the middle of a job to turn down the torque on my impact driver. But, I do like Milwaukee's little 12V lineup. They have a small impact like the Bosch/Makita, a right angle small impact, and the ratchets. I'm still leaning toward the 12V ratchet. I like the way they have the small battery or the bigger extend capacity batteries for their 12V stuff also.
 
That 20V is the one ripping heads off my fender bolts. More than I want for the every day stuff. May be my particular tool, but it doesn't have much fine control at the switch. The 12V version I also have works great, but batteries aren't lasting very long anymore.
the small one is taking the heads off?
unless that bolt is rusted in that thing shouldnt take the head off.

Once again I think there is too much overkill in these tools. Sorry but you might need to wait a few seconds to get your nut off! For mostly small nuts and bolts 10mm or smaller I can break them loose with a socket or box end wrench and then remove them with my 18v driver that's not even strong enough to shear off or cross thread anything. You can install or remove easily with this tool. Using an impact on everything will only cause you more work because by the time you feel any resistance from the bolt it's too late, it's broke. Tightening most bolts with an impact is overkill too. My Ryobi is, at max effort, rated at 200 ft lbs of tq. Way too much for most connections. Be patient and enjoy the work you are doing. :cheers:

Most of the time I do enjoy working on my cars. But if you ever consider racing a car, you've got to be prepared for the part that sucks. Gotta get the car ready no matter what the schedule with the kids is that week and how late you have to stay up every night. Got no time for patience and joy :p.
