So I want to put the batt in the trunk of my coupe and I have one question. Due to the position of the battery (REALLY short ground cable in Taylor kit), I doubt the battery will be able to fit in the box (under the rear pass. speaker, right next to the trunk hinge). I also have a rearseat delete, can I get away without runing a batter box? If I can I want to eventually get an optima and one of those billit aluminum hold downs off ebay. And I have a Die Hard Gold Battery.

To pass tech at most tracks your going to need a vented battery box. And if your not running a sealed type of battery like an Optima, it is a smart move anyways for safety, to keep explosive hydrogen gas vapors from building up in the interior of the car.
I went with a taylor box, kind of expensive, but there are definitely cheaper options out there.

I just noticed that I had to extend the gorund wire. I guess that helps answer your question. I probably should shrink wrap that connection too.

An acceptable extension for the ground wire can be picked up at any quality stereo shop, they should have the ring terminals to suit your needs...that's what I did on mine...
