Battery Relocation

I currently relocated my battery to the trunk using 4-gauge wire, something that I have noticed is that my car feels weak when I first start the car but as soon as it turns on, it feels normal. Is it because I used to small of a guage? Could this drain my battery? Any body that has relocated the battery to the back please fill in.

It could be a couple of things...the battery is old...its not grounded properly...poor connection to your alternator.
Did you use a kit, or DYI? Take it to an autozone or something and have your electrical system tested.,..that should help you diagnose the problem

I made my own kit, the battery is brand new. The think its the wire thats to small. I've noticed that some kits that are sold either come with a 1 guage or 2 guauge, what better for my application?

4-ga is too small, I used 2-ga when I moved mine and have no problems.

I would think 4 gauge is not bad really...I think most kits come with 4 gauge but im not sure. It could be a ground like above said...try to get that secure as possible and make sure the surface is clean metal.

I too have seen the kits that come with 1-2 ga. ... When we relocated my brother's battery, we used 4 ga. and it works fine. It's probably a ground or you might have too much wire run. It should just be long enough to hook to your battery and not a lot of slack in the trunk. Know what I"m sayin?

I run 4ga and I have no problems either. I did in the beginning though due to not good ground.

Try getting some electricly conductive grease and lubing your connection with it. That should improve your ground quite a bit.

How did you wire the positive under the hood?

Wells I got 2-gauge wire and still doing the same thing. Basically I ran the wire(+) from the trunk to a power distibution block and grounded the wires that were in the (-) terminal of the battery (up front) I even scraped of some paint. In the back I grounded the negative terminal (battery) to the chassis.

Did I forget to do something? I think its a ground but I've checked the block to chassis ground and its ok, the the ground that were originally hooked up front to the battery, I grounded to that to the fender well. Anybody with this kind of problem?

You think if I route the negative cable from the battery (back) to the front, that this would solve my problem?

I don't see how routing the negative all the way to the front would help. How long is the ground wire you are using now? Try to keep it fairly short ... Also, what gauge is the ground wire and how do you have it grounded to the chassis?

Well its a 4-gauge (ground) wire and its at most a foot long,and it is grounded it along the rear light housing.

Can you post pics of the connections you made? Maybe that would help us point you in the right direction.
