Cable is creaking real bad (BBK adjustable)when depressing clutch, have read that you need too shim the quadrant?? How do you do that? How does it help? The clutch pedal is an absolute bugger to push in, and rattles the dash when doing so!!
Any help appreciated

try taking the cable off and spraying some lithium grease on it and down the cable. also, make sure the cable is run correctly and isnt binding. ive heard of people putting plastic washers on the rod where the quadrant sits to make it tight and keep it from rattling

you won't need to spray the cable,it's teflon lined.i have the same setup you have and had the same problems at first.shim the quad with washers until it lines up with the hole in the firewall.mine got way easier to push and took most all of the creaking noise away.this is the main reason of cable failures in these cars.it's usually stuff like improper cable routing and miss aligned quads, not defective cables.

Do you just use normal metal washers, or do you need plactic ones? Should I look at getting a better brand of quadrant like UPR or Steeda?

i used regular washers but i really don't think it matters what washers you use as along as the quad is in line with the firewall hole.

my BBK cable/quadrant setup works great! I used some cable lube in the cable. Tried the white lithium grease and that stuff gets THICK in the winter!!! DON'T DO IT!!!

Have someone step on the clutch while your head is lodged near the gas pedal looking at the quadrant with a flashlight. See if it's bending when engaged..

Bending?? Can you see the quadrant when installed or do I have to remove any panels to gain access?
