Does anyone have a writeup with pictures on a BBK header install? Me and a friend are doing an install on his 02 GT, and he is installing BBK full length headers. Just wondering if there is a good how to on this. Thanks guys,

Michael

Yea i have this site, my friend said he doesnt really want to do this way because of all the disasymbling that takes place. IS there any other write up, maybe of the way BBK gives you (the directions sent with the headers) or is this the only way to go?

Based upon my experience with the install of a Prochamber on an 03 GT and shorty headers on a friends 01 GT there isn't another way with long tubes. Shorties we were able to do with tweaking the engine and stuff a bit but long tubes are a whole different animal. I looked at the fngsweet site, sure did seem like a lot of work but I bet the sound would be worth it :hail2:

I got mine in without taking the K member down , just had to take the motor mounts loose and jack the motor WAY up , be careful though , we even got it up high enough to clear the starter without taking it off , didnt notice this though till we already had it off and was putting it back , having it off makes it easier to take off manifold on that side though , but we bolted it back in then put the header back on . but either way you do it takes alot of time , might take alot of time to take out k member but it might be worth it , we did alot of cussing , i also got a tip from GI joe , cut a slit in the drivers side flange wide enough to clear the dip stick tube , i know you might not wanna cut on a new header but the results are well worth a few minutes to cut it for clearance . if i ever take mine back off im cutting it , took me 3 hours to get the dipstick tube back in and had to get a new one from ford after i monkeyed up the factory one .

Man this thread brings back memories... the dip stick thing SUCKS!!!!!! I tore the o-ring getting it in and had to get a new one. I cut about a 1/4 inch off the end of in a feeble attempt to get it back in. I have seen several threads on that alone! My story was fun too... after I got the headers on, my H pipe was bent and didn't fit right. I had to send it back and get a replacement. My car was on blocks for a week waiting on the part. Keeping the gaskets in place was fun too. Not to mention.. don't tighten ANYTHING up until all of the bolts are started (if you plan on using the stock studs). And last but not least... tighten everything, then heat it up, let it cool and tighten again. Then tighten a week later. And depending on your year model, you A/C will drip water on the passenger header. That's real annoying. But, it's all worth it in the end... :D

I had mine installed by an exhaust shop. They said it was a PITA. Had to jack up the motor, remove the oil dip stick and perform the install that way. Took them close to 7 hours to do the install. Glad I didn't try to do it myself. Don't have the time or the tools.
