I bought and installed my BBK Headers in about January of 2007, this year I didn't drive my car much because I live at college so it has been sitting since September. I have driven it about 5 times to make sure nothing breaks because I know if you just let it sit without preparing it things can go wrong.

I just got under the hood today for the first time in a while and noticed that my BBK Headers, http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/iwwida.pvx?;item?item_no=BBK-1515 1&comp=LRS, had a ton of surface rust on them. I thought these things were supposed to be stainless steel?

Also, there are a lot of white "dots" all over my water pump...where did these things come from?

Thank you!

why would think they are stainless? i didnt see anything in that link to suggest that. it DOES however say they are chromed or ceramic coated. they are just mild steel with a chrome finish. with the car sitting you will actually get more rust than if it were driven because they dont get hot and cause the water to sweat out of the metal, so it will sit in/on the headers and rust. second, the white on your water pump is likely just aluminum oxide (think of it as "aluminum rust")

WHite dots are aluminum corrosion. Basically it's rust. Aluminum oxide.

aluminum oxide isnt bad. it is sorta like a rust but all aluminum has a surface oxide on it as soon as it hits oxygen, so the white dots you see is already and always there. just not accumulated so bad. water causes oxide build up like that. its nothing to worry about.

and i dont think BBK makes stainless headers. just chome plated and ceramic coated.

stainless headers cost a little more dough

Thank you guys for your help!

I have one more quick question.

I have the stock setup SC-Trim, I am looking to step up the boost and also go to an 8-rib setup. I get 6.5-7lbs of boost right now with the stock pulleys, 6.87" Crank/3.33" Blower i think, and I was wondering if anyone could let me know what to upgrade my blower pulley to so that I can hit about 12-13psi.

I was thinking 6.87"/2.85" because I still want to maintain the stock accessory drive size so I do not have cooling/charging issues and I could not find an 8" crank that has that.

if its and SC trim the crank pulley is only 6" the s trim has the 6.87

i run an SC trim and it came with a 6" lower and 3.33" upper made 6 psi with a powerpipe on a mild HCI.

i put on an ASP 7" lower and it made 9 psi. they also sell 8" crank pulleys.

should make 11-12 psi with that pulley.

and if all possible keep the stock 3.33 upper, the larger you can keep the blower pulley the better. the bigger pulley has more belt on it and helps prevent belt slip. so if you can, increase crank pulley size as much as you can before putting smaller blower pullies on.

and upgrading to 8 rib would also help out alot in preventing belt slip. the 6 rid pulleys is the only real drawback to the SC trim, its a really nice blower.

Can you link me to ASP's website? I can't find it anywhere through google.

Do you know if they sell an 8" Crankshaft pulley with the stock size accessory pulley so that I don't underdrive them too much?

If I understand it right, by switching to just an 8" crank keeping the stock 3.33" blower I should hit my 12-13psi range.

Thanks.
