I am going to Maple Grove tonight and there should be some vendors there and I want to buy some long tube headers. I was curious if the ceramic coated ones are worth the extra money over the chrome ones.
FWIW: the car is always garaged and not driven in the rain so rust is hindered there.
Are there any heat advantages to ceramic coated headers over chrome ones?
Thanks
Dan

The chrome headers will discolor after a while and turn multiple colors (rainbow like with a bias towards the blue tint). You really can't stop it either because the heat will eventually get to it and some have it where the chrome peels...

It's the cats taht help you pass emissions, not the headers...

Also, Get Ceramic. The color changing chrome will just piss you off.

I am not sure about NJ, but some states places will fail you if you have altered anything on the exhuast. You might fail the physical/appearance inspection, but I am not sure about the state laws in NJ.

not meant as a hijack but I never had much luck with my ceramic headers from BBK. I don't know if I got a hold of a few that were a bad run or what but my coating flaked off after about 2 weeks of driving. sent them back and the 2nd set did the same thing.

Jet-Hot is the way to go. It is expensive, but well worth it.

Get the jet hot or ceramic if you're on a budget. I have the chrome BBK LTs and after the car sat for a year while I was overseas the headers didn't look too good anymore. They still work great though!

I had a used set of ceramic bbk 1 5/8" LT's that I sold to a friend. I'm not sure how old they were but I had them for over 2 years. They had some surface rust on the midle part of the tubes (hard to explain). Other than that, the coating was cool. I just ordered up a set of 1 3/4" ceramic BBK's from jegs last night The thick single bbk flange is great.
