So I pretty much need a new exhaust system on my mustang. I am considering getting bbk shorty headers, bbk catted h pipe, and flowmaster a/t catback for my car. Now there's a disclaimer on the site for bbk midpipe fitment issues with flowmaster. I wanted to know if anyone has done their own exhaust with this setup (at least same midpipe and catback) and had or didn't have fitment issues. I have no problem taking the car to a professional shop for installation but my father is telling me he can do the entire install if it's bolt on.

Oh nice but the disclaimer on LMR is specifically for flowmaster catback. That said I know that a lot of people have gone with these setups

BBK equal length shorties, BBL off road X-pipe, and Flow Master cat back.

I had my buddy who owns an exhaust shop install the tail pipes and weld all the clamped stuff up. There was some trimming to get it all to sit in there just right but I have a panhard bar and torque arm. This was all done 15 years ago or so so I can speak to their current manufacturing.

My suggestion would be to install the headers, h-pipe and the mufflers and take it to a shop to finish it.

Yeah I went ahead with that setup and it sounds good at least to me. Are you thinking of trying the same thing?

I just has this issue on my 89 coupe. Although it was a complete exhaust for a 94-95 (mac shorties, bbk o/r h, and american thunder catback), I had the h pipe and catback loosely bolt up....My shop had to cut and weld to get it to fit correctly. It was more than just a little off

I didn’t attempt it on my own and ended up having the shop do it, they charged me an arm and a leg for the labor and I stupidly paid it. I should’ve done what AeroCoupe suggested and install everything but the tailpipes and let the shop bend and cut those. Never again.
