Good cams for 96 heads?

Can someone point me in the direction for some good cams for my car? Almost all that I've seen are for the PI HEADS. I have the PI cams in now, looking for more power.

Going with shorties really doesn't do much on a NA car. Long tubes are the way to go.

If you are doing a power adder car either will work fine, there is only a few horsepower difference between them.

quality wise, other than weld splatter they were really nice. It took about 30 minutes with the dremel to clean things up inside the pipe before I installed them. Definately worth the money.

As said above LTs are better bang for the buck, but some people can only get Shorties or Tuned length due to leagal issues. I don't think I felt any gains, and I actually ran slower at the track (but thats because I couldn't get traction), however the exhaust note changed a lot!

ok I'm confused.
Shorties - I did see an increase in HP and a decrease in ET's. Now considering installion is the same I fully understand others saying go LT's. But if been able to put stock hpipe on and install and remove tranny without removing headers is a concern then shorties are worth it.

Cams - Comp cam's has a series of cams just for the NPI cars. Perhaps you should check out their catalogCLICKY

thats what I was thinknig, if putting headers on is a PITA, wouldn't it be worth it to not have to re do it every time you need to drop the transmision. IMO I would sacrafice the few HP and not have to take apart the whole car for a clutch install.

+2

But what about Mid-length Bassanni headers? I would assume that you wouldn't have to remove them to pull the trans.

Even if Shorties don't do much, they're lighter than cast iron exhaust manifolds.:nice:

Yeah I agree, shortly after posting this thread I was told all about the shorty/long tube header debate and installation pain.

I've actually decided to get comp cams instead (which is why I edited this post, heh). I'm going with the XE268H 102200 cams and springs. I think that's the best choice for my setup. No doubt I'm going to need a tune after this.
