BBK Throttle Body?

Depends on the intake you are wanting to run in the future. If your planning on running the stock intake, then upgrading just the TB will do no good. For one, you need to upgrade the EGR as well to match, unless your planning on getting a '93 cobra which the EGR is not required. Most stock intakes measure 57.738 mm for the opening, so pushing 65mm of air into that opening wont help, in fact it could hurt performance although such small amount you probably wont tell..More info is needed...

toss 75mm outta the mix, unless your gonna do some serious engine work. if you plan on adding a new short block, or new heads or a supercharger, go ahead with a 70mm. I went with 70mm because a friend of mine sold it to me with a Cobra Intake for 300 bucks, and they were both practically brand new. either one should be OK

Cars can run into the 12's with a stock throttle body . Bell mouth your throttle body for now.. That would be plenty sufficent. Do a nice job, take your time , and you will feel a throttle response difference. 526 CFM is the 60mm Stock T body ;the bbk 70 flows 726 CFM.!

With those Mods a 75 MM is a . If you Do Heads, Cam, Intake, Roller Rokers, and are pushing out over 300 at the rear wheels then you could go to a 70MM but really dont need to unless your going to throw a power adder on it, a 65 will be just fine unless your going to do some radical combo

Can you sing “Whistle a happy tune”? Because that’s what you will be doing with a BBK or Mac throttle body. They have an annoying tendency to whistle at idle.

The best buy is either a Ford FMS or Accufab throttle body. The FMS body comes with a new TPS sensor and IAB actuator, a highly recommended plus if you have and older car and these items haven’t been replaced. The Accufab doesn’t come with these items; you use your current ones. It is an excellent piece of machine work & the fit and finish are first class. It is also more expensive than the Ford FMS throttle body.

Size:
A 70 mm throttle body is a good choice for a stroker, pressurized induction or 351 or larger engine. Use it on a 302 if you are going to spend more time at the race track than on the street, or if you have a really hot combo that likes to rev. Use it on a stock or mildly modded engine and low end torque will suffer due to low velocity in the intake,

A 65 mm throttle body is the best choice for a stock or mildy modded 302 engine. Low end torque is good and the velocity in the intake is right where it should be.

With either size throttle body, the EGR spacer has to match the throttle body for best results. The intake manifold needs to be ported or replaced to take advantage of the increased airflow capabilities.

Larger injectors with an 88 speed density engine isn’t a workable solution. The computer won’t know what to do with them. Larger injectors would require conversion to Mass Air Flow like the 89 (or Cali 88) and later stangs. Keep in mind that speed density engines can be fussy about mods that change the airflow or vacuum. That’s why the mass air conversion is such a popular item on the performance mods list.

I've had a BBK 70mm for 4 yrs and never had any whistling. Get the 70mm, it'll leave room to grow since you're in the beginning stages of mods.

May I ask what evidence you have concluded that your throttle body needs to be replaced?

I have a 70 mm BBK throttle body basically BRAND NEW only used for about an hour before the guy realized it wasn't going to work with his set up (NOVA project with Fuel injection setup) I'll sell it for 110 without the EGR SPACER. This part is 190 new, if ur interested send me a message. BTW the cobra intake I AM PRETTY SURE has a 65mm opening for TB. If you do go with a cobra intake don't bother with 70mm. However I have heard other mustang owners stay away from Cobra intake, because they wanted to go bigger down the road. I'd suggest an intake with a 70mm opening so then if you wanna supercharge it down the road it will set up nicely. For the price Trick flow intakes are good, and Performer intakes are good too. But a lot of people like to go with the gt-40 which is about 100-180 dollars more than the others ones :SHRUG: Just a suggestion.

is it correct that all BBK TBs are really BBK/Edelbrock?...my friend had a 70 mm and it says both names on it...he gave me his spacer and that also says both names...are these just the older ones? or the new "power plus" ones still have this?..

on a side note: from the day he bought the car he had problems with teh TB...the springs were all messed up andmade teh pedal hard to push...but no other problems.

yes your correct the one thats on my car says the same thing and i just bought it this year.

if you really think you need a T/B i would get the 65MM. thats more then enough for any stock type car.
