BBK Throttle Body

Im having an issue with my BBK Throttle body. Its a 70mm and was on my car when i bought it. Anyway, the throttle is sticking right off idle. When the car is off and not pulling any vacuum it works perfect. But when the car is running, it sticks right off idle and makes the car very unenjoyable to drive. I've tried adjusting the idle screw, but to make the problem go away the flap has to be open too far and the car idles way too high. Im guessing the flap is sticking inside the housing under vacuum for some reason. Has anyone else had this problem, or know how to fix it?

hmm, have you tried some pb blaster on the outer linkage?? see if that is sticking.

I've tried that. The throttle feels super smooth when the car is not running, but when the motor is running and pulling vacuum it sticks right off idle. I think its just a bad throttle body. Im thinking the butterfly is sticking to the housing under vacuum. Thats the only thing that makes logical sense to me.

mine did the same thing and it was the throttle cable sticking. it just needed some lithium grease and some time.
my car was "jerky".....the first half inch of pedal travel was sticky.

I was thinking that too, but if its the cable it should do the same thing when the car is not running. Mine is only sticky when the car is running, and perfectly smooth when the car is off.

i had a holley 70mm that did the same thing, dont know what it was? ended up returning it and buying a bbk off a friend after using the stocker for a bit.

does it stick if you move the linkage by hand? that would definitly rule out the cable/pedal as culprits.

i just went thro the same thing with my bbk t/b and i ended up welding the shaft on the bottom where it attaches to the linkage,the shaft had became loose and would allow the butterfly to move enough to up my idle to about 1500,if u hold the butterfly closed and move the linkage u will see on the bottom where it is moving.it is on the very bottom,u can use jb weld on it as well.but let me know if u think its the same as wut i said.

Mybe this is not a mechanical problem. Try putting a timing light on and see what it is doing. My car did the same thing when I deleted the EGR and TAB/TAD. The result was the ECU adds timing which holds the idle high for a few seconds after release. I was told by my tuner that it can be fixed with a custom burnt chip. I havent done so yet, but I just purchased an Anderson PMS and I should be able to fix it through that. I will find out when I put the engine back in the car after after having it stroked. I should be putting it back in this week and it should be up and running in the next 2 weeks.

Good suggestion. I don't think that is my problem, but I definitely won't rule it out. Im gonna try a stocker and see if that fixes the problem. That would let me know positively that its the throttle body.

I'll also check out the linkage on the bottom as suggested before.
