hi y'all,

the intake and valve covers on my 69 are nasty. they are both cast aluminum. i put the valve covers in carb dip for about 20 hours, they are definetly clean now, but they have a good deal of pitting and alot of scratches too. i am thinking about having them both (intake and covers) bead blasted. anyone had this done before? is there any concern with left behind media? what kind of business does this little operation!

thanks

My business does this work

You will probably want them blasted with #8, possibly #10 Silica Sand (Glass bead). This will put a 'shine' on the metal compared to a regular sand blast. However, it is hard to estimate how bad the pitting is in your metal and a bead blast may not get rid of it.

What is giong to be done to the covers and cleaner after they have been blasted? Chromed? Coated?

I had mine bead blasted and they came out pretty good. You could have them polished and coated to preserve them in that state.
