Been sitting a while, any tips for prepping to start?

So, My car has been sitting for a while, about 3 months. Right now it has the timing cover/water pump/etc off and I've had it covered/stuffed with rags etc. Well this week i'll be putting it back together and starting it, and i'm wondering what i should do to get it ready. I've been having to scrape tons of nasty gasket and whatnot from where the timing cover came off etc and like i said i've kept the oil pan and things stuffed but i have no doubts that at least a little grit has fallen in there. What should i do to clean it up etc? What kind of oil priming can i do? Oil the timing chain sprockets or what? I'm pretty clueless about this so please suggest anything you think i should do. I'm planning on getting it ready, of course with new oil and filter, running it for like a day or something make sure everything is in order and together right, then change the oil. That'll flush it good i think but i still need to know what i should do before hand.

Thanks a lot, i really need this to go smoothly so i can start driving it again hehe.

p.s. the top isn't torn down, just the front (timing cover/pump/accesory/balancer/etc.)

if you find any orifaces you can reach with a vac, i might hit them with it - it cant really hurt too much. otherwise wipe stuff down with lint free rags/towels.

i would pull the dizzy and prime it.

good luck.
