you need alot more than that, they dont give u any plumbing, u would make it all yourself. I would go with a nice complete kit

look at www.hpturbos.com lots of satisfied customers and their kits are COMPLETE. every but and bolt and people have got over 400RWHP with their basic single intercooled turbo setup.

heres a direct link to their 79-95 kits

I would suggest that if you have any fabrication skills to make your own kit. Of course, that's a lot harder than it sounds, but it can pay off huge. I have a buddy with a single turbo kit that he put together himself and makes 530ish at the wheels...and he doesn't have 2k under his hood.

i wanted this to be cost effective. i found plumbing for the hotside for like $800, and a turbonetics t-66 turbo for like $760 new. i would just need plumbing for the coldside, right?

www.turbomustangs.com will tell you everything you need to know about putting a turbo on your stang. They even have a forum section for the people that choose to fabricate the systems themselves.

Fabricating the system yourself will save you a lot of money, but will take much longer and does require some skill.

You could check out a buddy of mine (Rick Tapp) at www.fullboogie.net He owns a shop in LasVegas,NV (TNC HOT RODS) he builds turbo kits for a living and is currently working on a kit for my stang. I will be running a single 63mm Percision ball bearing turbo, with future plans to go with twins.

Rick is very well priced, and is top qaulity workmanship. The site list all prices for what you need. You could either order a kit or design your own and purchase it piece by piece from him.

I can weld plate ok. But pipe is alot harder. I'm still practicing. I want the welds to look pretty. I'll be heli-arcing it.

I'm just gonna buy my headers from B&G. And go from there. Like what Millhouse did.

hey i dont have a 5.0 but i had a question and this seems like a good thread to ask it. what kinda rwhp can the 5.0 motor take with stock internals. cuz a turbo is talkin about a lot of power just wondering if ya'lls motor is a lot stronger than my 4.6.

Unfortunately the odds are more in your favor. I've seen 4.6's with close to 1k HP with no problems, where as a 5.0 is on borrowed time at 500. I've seen 5.0s at 700hp on a stock block but they seriously didn't last long. The 4.6 has a much beefier block, and the crank is more up inside the engine. The car i mentioned above makes 530ish at the wheels but he just bent a rod a couple months ago....and then went and bought another stock Explorer block (same as he was running before) and swapped the short block and it's all good.

mustang cam - I would upgrade the pistons and rods.

I've thought about going with a 4.6L 4v Cobra motor. They have lots of potential. I couldnt find a kit for a 4.6 fox body turbo. But your block is alot stronger than a stock 5.0 block.
