I am trying to do a HCI and I'm at a work stoppege with my fuel rails. I have tried the plastic disconnect tools and the metal type too with no luck. I have used wd40 to try to loosen the the dam thing with no luck. It seems the fuel rails have melded together. If someone lives close to Panama City, FL I will give you a case of beer (if old enough) and a large pizza for lunch to help me (plus gas). My only option is to take to a mechanic to laugh at me when it takes him a second to disconnect the fuel lines. Please help....

are you sure you have the right disconnect tool? I belive you need 1/2 inch. you have to push and pull really hard. took me 15 mins to get the 2 off today.. good luck

I used a piece of 1/2 inch pvc pipe. I tapperd the end (like sharpening a pencil) and cut a slit in the piece of pipe to slide over the line. Push it in firmly and push the 2 lines to geather while pushing the tool in and pull apart.

I'm pulling my engine out and had the same problem yesterday; I ended up just draining the fuel out of the lines and carefully situating the fuel rails over the pass fender out of the way...to hell with it lol. There's more than one way to skin a cat - I hate fuel disconnects...PERIOD!

I have the correct tools. One time I break them loose it will be easy, and the next time it will take longer to break the fuel lines loose than it will take to pull the lower intake. :nonono:

There are 2 sizes for the fuel lines. Make sure you are using the correct size for each line.

This is a right of passage.
Once you have done this you will really be a Mustang Enthusiast. :nice:

Good luck. As others have said, it can take some force and some repeated tries. Depends on how long it has been since they have been pulled apart and what type of conditions they have seen...that and they like to be a pain.

make sure you approach from the correct side. I tried it backwards for like 5 minutes. just push them into teh spring lock and you'll hear a "snick" then you hold it in place while you wrestle the line off teh rail.
