Belt Length???....smog delete... a/c delete...S/c

Do you have a smog pump eliminator pulley? Or did you just re -route it? If you did the latter, you will have problems. Once you get a belt to fit right, after it wears in and stretches it will be too loose and squeal. Since the belt doenst go to the smog anymore it doesnt get as much " wrap" on the tensioner and it cant add enough tension to keep it tight. Belive me I tried alot of different things and it always loosens up and starts to squeak. Best way so far was to get a belt thats impossible to fit on by hand and then take the w/p pulley off and thne out the belt on it and tighten the pulley back on to force the belt on there. That lasted a good 5-6k miles. Im gonna try getting a larger pulley for the tensioner so it can put more tension on the belt but I havent tried that yet. Either get a smog eliminator or try my different pulley idea and report back to me.

what what if you start with a belt that is realllllly hard to get on in the first place? meaning really tight.... then if it streches a bit, it will still be ok... no?

You mean like loosening the water pump pulley(so its like hanging), squeeze the belt on barely and then force it on by tightening down the waterpump pulley down? If so then I beat you to it. So far its the best method but it just started squealing again. Yes you will hear it over the s-trim but its only during start up. Once hte car warms up(after like a minute) it should stop until the belt loosens enough that it doesnt stop.
