if you have to get a belt off (assuming thats what you need to do) take a crow bar and use the leverage from the alt and lift the tensioner. had to do that a couple times when i had my old tensioner with a stripped bolt from the previous owner

You guys do better under pressure than I do. It happened to me (on my F-350) while I was doing a last minute fix on my A/C clutch before a weekend in the desert.....I got all wound up and cut the belt.... and there went another $40....
