Hey Guys, i'm new to the forum and got a few quick questions for ya.

Who (if anyone)likes the bench seat in the 65's, and were they rare enough to want to keep it in the car?

I couldnt find anything that actually proves the car is rare, but have heard from a few people that it is.

What do yall think, scrap it, or keep it?

Thanks for your ideas

They are very rare. If yours originally came with it, and you like it keep it. If you really want our advice, throw up a pic of it and that would make it easier to comment. If you don't like it, store it somewhere where it will stay in good shape.

Benchs seats are highly a matter of personal preference and add nothing to the value of the car. They are. like a 64 1/2, strictly a conversation piece, nothing more.

BTW, many bech seat have been converted to buckets but RARELY have buckets been coverted to a bench. I say this based on many years in the Mustang hobby.

The newer price guides break the 64-1/2 cars out from the 65s and show a higher price for genuine 64-1/2s...and like said above, don't lose that bench seat! You never know when that will become a hot item in the future.

I had a bench seat in the '67 that i got into a wreck with. And even though i had to part with the car, i took out the seats and still have them. good stuff.

I love mine and have never even thought of changing it out. I once swapped in some highbacks while redoing the seats....could not wait to get them back in! I have never seen a bench car sell for more just because its a bench car. And just for numbers there were only 8000 67s that came with bench seats!

I took out my expensive console and bucket seats to put the bench in. I paid about $65 buck on ebay for it but I like it alot. They even make pony interior for them.Just like benches better. I have a 65 convertible and out of the 75k or so made 2k had benches.

I would have to agree with most of the guys here, I have a bench seat in my 66 and love it!
I've also heard from a few guys around here that the bench seats are a lot more comfortable aswell? Not sure on that as i've only ever used a bench seat.

Sweet, maybe I will keep it for a while then. Do you guys know where I can get the pony covers for a bench? I have seen the regular type everywhere, but never the Pony for a bench seat.

Thanks again!

I've never seen a "pony" bench seat nor replacement covers for one. I'm one of those people who prefers bucket largely because I have a long console. For MY purposes, it boils down to appearance.
I am physically large enough to appreciate the fact that my buckets are individually adjustable. The early Mustang is NOT a large car and a bench only makes it "smaller". I would think that having THREE people seated in the front would be hugely impractical.
As I said, the bucket/bench issue is a matter of personal choice. There is no right or wrong answer. Value wise, it is a wash regardless of any "value guide".

I bought mine thru the local mustang shop here in san diego. but both the shops (2) here could order them. they were TMI products which is what you want. I have seen it at few parts suppliers. but I cant think of them right now.
