If a car drives down the road sideways, doors dont shut right, things dont like up, impossible to align wheels...

look at your roof from the back of the car, if you can see any warping, theres a good chance your frame is bent

that gets me nervous. My car drives nice and straight but the passenger side door seems to be low in the car. There is about almost a 1 inch gap between the door and door frame at the top. The hinges feel tight so I was thikning it could be frame.

I am gonna try to fix the door as I have said in a previous post. But if the frame is a little bent. What can I do? The car drives alright, so could I just get the door to fit, throw a cheap paint job on it and leave it? or will it be impossible to get the door back near where it should be?

Just adjust the door. You can still have tight hinges and the door will be out of adjustment for one reason or another. Was the car hit to your knowledge ?? I have fixed quite a few cars that were hit before that I am perfectly comfortable driving. I wouldnt worry too much about it.

I think the car was hit. When I swapped out the lx kit for the gt I noticed some of the pain on the bumpers didn't match. IT doesn't seem like it was hit too badly, and the car drives straight. So I am not worried from that aspect. I am thinking about selling it and starting a new project, but the $$$ i spend on paint depends on if the frame is bent.

Actually there really isn't a "frame" so to speak on your car, it's uni-body construction, which just means the entire body makes up the frame... My dad owns a body shop and has a frame machine, that i have been using for the last few years..
Can you post a picture of the gap so we can see what is going on?

Well basically the uni-body is the frame and if you tweak something on the unibody you are essentially bending the frame. Same idea but the construction is a little different.

I had an 83 capri rs t-top as well. All I did was dump the bubble hatch for a new style, customize the body a slight bit, paint it and drive it as a daily driver. You don't see too many of them around.
