Bent Shift Fork??

my GT is an 02 with 55k I bought it used and it was my first time ever driving a GT and mustang for that matter ...well it had always been kinda hard to shift it but i never knew how it was suppose to feel so fast forward to today i take car in to get oil change and service rep & tech (both drove my car) said i have a bent shift fork... how much is this to replace the guy said $225 (Which i consider pretty good) but im not sure.. what all is involved in this and what r some symptons of this thanks

P.S also i rarely if ever grind but it has happend once or twice and also sometimes i will push in clutch and have to sorta jam shifter (not really) jus for it alittle and i can feel a vibration like clutch isnt all the way enganging or something..and its always been really hard to shift smooth

Bent Fork??? I have never bent one...all have being taking out of commision (broken). The forks are made of a metal that can't bent but it breaks easily, well at least my T-45 is like that. With a "broken" fork you wont be able to shift, I f**ked up my fork for 3 and 4 gear. The forks themselves are about 25-35 dollars each, labor is a total different story.

Yeah man. A bent fork causes shifting problems. Pay the $250-$300 and fix it. And be careful driving after fixing it. Bent shift forks are a common problem on the GT cars.

Is this "tough shifting" a notchy, clunky feel on the 1-2 shift and/or the 2-3 shift?? But fine on the 3-4 shift??

Aren't some aftermaket fork made of billet, I remember I saw something like that. Don't remember the company, but I think it was for T-5 and T-45.

Dunno, I had a cracked shift fork and 90 percent of the time when I'd try to put it into third gear, it would pop out. Sucks, 225 fixing it sounds pretty good cause they have to remove the tranny.

I think what he was getting at is if it's the shift fork it shold be both 3rd & 4th gear shift that are a problem, not just one. But mayby the 2nd gear synchronizer.

is your car still under warrenty !!!, from what i remember the new tsb for the 3650 change the 1-2 and 3-4 shift fork and other stuff, they a going to says that the trans was fine and you bent the fork...i'm sur you didn't.

if you open the trans you should do a good jobs.

here in canada the powertrain warrenty is 5 year and 100 000km your are still under it. i think in the us it's 5 and 60000 miles but i'm not sure at all
