yes, I know, another one of these threads. sorry in advance. now to the question - I'm thinking I may just use my credit card to get a set of heads. this way I can do the install of the heads/intake all in one shot. I don't want to spend a fortune however. I would also prefer iron heads. I did a search and noticed alot of people talking about the Thumper heads(nice price). would those be a good purchase for me? as of right now I have no plans on changing the stock cam. after the purchase of the heads I will most likely be done for quite awhile on purchases.

also, I'll probably get a set of roller rockers at some point down the road so so since I want to keep the stock cam should I go with 1.7s?

Since you want iron heads, you're limited to a.Thumper or Powerheads(ported E7s), b. Windsor jr., c. GT40/GT40P.

The Thumpers are great with a ported stock lower for the stealth look. Any of the aftermarket street intakes would work as well (let personal preference or price be your guide).

Do you plan a power adder or increased displacement? Emissions concerns? Will you change the rocker arms? Questions like these will ultimately determine what heads you get.

thanks for the reply.

I don't have emmisions testing here but who knows if that could change so I'm thinking I may(?) try to stay safe on that. I'll most likely got some rockers down the road at some point. I also may get a supercharger down the road but that most liely won't be for around 1.5-2yrs from now at the earliest. plus I'm still trying to figure out if I want to go mass air.

I have a Cobra intake and I'm thinking about having it ported(been reading about TMoss and his awesome work )

the car never sees the track and I don't really race it except for the occasional traffic light to 45mph or so. I just want a little more power than what I have now.

I'm thinking after getting the heads/intake I'll turn my attention to the suspension/drivetrain. that will keep me and my checkbook busy for awhile.

the motor only has 82000 miles on it and I was thinking of a rebuild when it hit around 120000 or so. at that time I might change the cam but I'm still not for certain. I don't want to shop for stuff with a cam change in mind for then because for the amount of time I drive the car it could be over 5yrs. from now before that happens.

hope this helps a little.

Is there a reason you want to stay away from aluminum heads? The Trickflow and Edelbrock heads are a pretty good bargain and can make a ton of power.

Windsor Jr's have a 180 cc intake runner correct? Almost as big as AFR 185's. Maybe I'm thinking of the Roush 180's.....or are the Jr's and the Roush's the same?
