I have a 1965 mustang and im planning on replacing my old 2 bbl carb and replacing my old intake manifold. I want a 4 bbl thats reliable enough to be a daily driver. What do you guys think would be a good setup?

depending on the level of modification you are planning for your 289 it goes like this;

stock or mild build; performer or weiand action plus intake with an edelbrock 500 or road demon 525 cfm carb.

mild to moderate build; performer rpm or weiand stealth with a carb as above.

next step up from the above; a 600 cfm carb from edlebrock, holley, or barry grant(the demon series carbs).

after that you move into the single plane intake range with the victor jr, or an older torker intake, or the weiand equivelant intake, and carb size can move into the 750cfm range.

hmm

Well if you are stock an performer intake and your choice of carbs...although the autolite 4100 works well and they are cheap and cheap to rebuild...

Personally I like period correct items ... Look for a C90x intake (Ford Power Parts) or get a recast (cobra) intake and a Holley.
