So I'm FINALLY having my stock H-pipe removed this weekend and replaced with a Bassani Catted X. I know I know, go ahead and say it "You got a supercharger before a midpipe?!" Yea, I did. Now moving on...

I currently have flowmaster 40s welded in. I'm not too sure how this is going to sound, but I don't know the sound different between "chambered" and non-chambered, so I'm not sure what to do here.

Firstly, I'm just doing the X-pipe. I'm not sure what kind of sound improvement this is going to yield, but if I like it, I'll keep it. If I don't, I was thinking Stingers? Anyone know if this would sound good? I don't want to go full Bassani because the damn catback will run you $750.

Any opinions/thoughts on this change?

AmBo....Get the Stingers

I support the Stingers idea %100.
If not Stingers, I'd get a Mac catback...But thats just me.

get the Bx or just weld Bassani mufflers in. OR try to find a used SS cat-back. I know its pricey, but my GOD did it sounds F'n beautiful!!!

If not Bassani, I think........(helty's thinking).........I'll get back to you on that one.

Chambered is that classic, deep muscle car sound. Flows and Mac Flowpaths. Non-Chambered has a higher pitch, like SLP, Stingers and Packs.

High pitch

I like the kind of exhaust that makes your shoulders go up when you hear it.

BX would corrode here in NJ with all the salt I drive in during the winter. Bleh! SS ftw man.

So Bassani cat with Bassani X = sex?

I kinda like a deep rumble and from vids i've seen of stingers, they have a deep rumble, not a high pitch.

With the Bassani X, go with their mufflers as well.... seems to get too raspy with any other system.

I would, and did have that exact system a while ago before I put in the LT's. Still have the SS catback, but it's now mated to Hooker LT's and O/R X. A plus to the Bassani system is that they come with the silencers you can put in/take out as you see fit. From past experience though, you do need to reprogram the computer when you remove/install them.

Never once got a negative compliment on it....only positives and many of them

Welp, if I'm going to go with Bassani SS cat, that won't happen till next year. I can't spring for $700 for a dang catback

The baffles? Why would you have to reprogram your computer?

Pay $700 for a catback and youll cry about it for a year, lol.

Flow's will sound good with what your getting. If you really dont like them then dont switch to another chambered muffler.

Dont get me wrong, the Bassani's sound amazing, but they are too expensive for my tastes. But I would say Magnapacks all the way...

i used to be all about stainless steel or nothing, but now I'll just go with weld-ins. I paid for a full SLP cat-back, and even the SS Bassani cat-back (you can get it for $640-ish shipped, but thats still too much imo).

I kind of understand about the corrosion factor in the northeast, but ive yet to see a thread of someone saying "my __________ has a rusted hole in it!", nor do I know of anyone that has had that happen to them.

In the end go with what YOU want, wether its a $700 SS system or $50 weld-ins. Good luck on the choice.

Get the 'Packs. You can pick them up for about $400. I've got the SS Bassani catted X and 'Packs and I would'nt buy another system no matter what. This combo kicks ass. Afew of my friends with Machs have gotten the 'Packs after hearing my combo.

i myself have always been used to using original 40s on every v8 vehicle ive had. my 02 GT came with welded in flows of unknown series with the stock catback. ive seen changed to a upr x pipe and today i recived my bassani bx catback...only paid 445 shipped. bassani warrantys it the same as thier more expensive ss kit. i should have it on thursday night. on cars with x pipes...slp, bassani, magnaflow seems to be the catback of choice. i myself prefer the sound of bassani over the other two. flowmasters and a x pipe doesnt sound that great together which is while im chunkin my current catback.

btw...Helty, your youtube videos convinced me to go bassani lol....

The Borlas bring a smile to my face everytime I start my car...just a thought. And ive found several sellers on ebay selling the stinger stainless catback for anywhere between 500 and $600 shipped, you have to search through the stores though.

I wouldn't get a MAC catback, it's loud as all hell. I took mine off my 95 GT and got Summit turbos welded in.

My brother and I both have Cat-X pipes with 2-chamber flows. LOVE the sound. Really deep. I don't care for the raspy Magnaflow/Bassani sound personally.

And $700 for a cat back no matter how you slice it is ALOT to pay.
