Hi Guys,

whats the "best" (i know people have different opinions) stroker kit for the 281...

All my mods are in my sig, dont really fancy boring the block, i may just buy the cobra iron block, and as i dont really rev past 6000 rpm, i dont mind loosing a few top end revs by using a stroker kit.. I guess boring the block is an option, but id rather stroke it and use forged rods and pistons.

I want to get it to a stage that I can have a bigger displacement, some where near 331 or larger but still have the strenght to add an intercooler, up the boost, fit my pi heads and manifold, a set of blower cams and probably a small shot of nitrous..

seeing as you guys have a lot more experience that any of the shops over here, I'd really appreciate your advice on this one..

thanks dudes

a bore will be better. when a stroker will do next to squat on a n/a car but on yours you see an improvment. if you go with PI's get deeper dish forged internals so you maintain a low compression

You ain't gonna find a better price than any of these kits.....

Just bought a forged rotating assembly for my '96 4.6 (non-stroker) and all the parts and service was top notch.

A bore is actually desirable, since it will help unshroud the valves a little and improve performance that much more.

302ci big bore would be nice.If you go with IP's you can also, remove
the swirl dams to lower the compression and keep the flat top pistons.

I just had a quote from DSS Racing. the deal sounds great for a 5.0 stroker cobra iron block... should mate up well with my PI heads and manifold...

has anyone had any experience from them in the past, the guys there seem real helpful..

cheers

You have almost the exact same setup as me.. I am just either looking to finance a complete long block, or save up for it.. When you change the internals, you'll then want to change heads, change injectors, intake manifold, etc., or you won't get the most benefit from the forged rotating assembly. Besides, the long block will be built by the professionals you buy it from. They know best on what the proper setup is for you. I've been studying this for a while and have come up with this conclusion...
