Best Exhaust for 2000 gt

Just wondering if anyone has an SLP or BASANI exhaust in here. Don't really wanna go with flowmaster because everyone has em and they are aluminized. Looking for suggestions on the best sounding...and durable of the two. peace out

I have the Bassani X pipe (Gutted Cats) with Borla exhaust (both are all stainless) and I always get complimented on how great the car sounds!!!

I got the Bassani Street Competition Cat Back. Sounds nice. I went with the BX(aluminized) version. Same performance and sound but a cheaper price. Stainless steel is overrated. Aluminized pipes will probaly last as long as your car anyway. It's not like your going to go under your car and polish your exhaust pipes so I would worry about how it looks. Still comes with polished stainless steel tips.

if you want to spend that much on bassani, go for it. but with catbacks they generally wont produce a big amount of HP when comparing one to another.

so 700 for bassani, or mac for 350. but you get 1 rwhp more for the bassani (example) - 350 isnt worth that to me.

Stainless is never over rated...I wish I would have bought S.S. when I did my 93 Cobra setup and I ended up paying double cause another brand rotted!!!! S.S. will outlast your car! It's also what you can afford.....

isnt' slp like rediculously loud? I want the hollow sound that i have outta my flowmaster mufflers...that 4.6 sound that sounds like the car is revving in a cave. but with a more durable, stainless steel exhaust

I have a Bassani catback with the matching catted X pipe. It sounds incredible. I highly recommened this setup.

Try SPINTECHS!!! with an o/r x-pipe. they sound amazing and unique. I got tons and tons of compliments when i had them on, even some by cops while in D.C

it's loud with stock H-pipe, but not obnoxiously so. Even with straight mid-pipe, no exhaust, it's not that loud.

if you put anything other than SS on your exhaust, it's almost like 'downgrading' the quality of your exhaust system, since stock was stainless.

I like my borla, it sounds awesome to me.

Exhaust is something no else can tell you what to get because its so subjective.

I second that!! We just installed our Spintech's with an entire Dr. Gas X-pipe and Cats (from the headers back). We installed on the sensors so we're still legal and they sound great. Since we did the install ourselves, we were also able to build it higher than the stock pipes which gave us some much needed additional ground clearance........

Our car won't see much bad weather driving but if your's will keep in mind after it's all put together, you can always have it "Coated." That will also give you a nice heat barrier which will keep more heat in the pipes (read: more power) and keep your interior cooler.....

This is was my thought process, and got an FRPP stainless exhaust over the Bassani Bx (aluminized) because of it. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the FRPP sound, SS construction and cost, but the Bassani's sound is the best I've ever heard on a stang and if I could afford it I would have gotten the Bassani SS. If your on a budget and live in an area that doesn't get their roads salted, Bassani Bx (IMO) would be the way to go. I had in the past purchased quality aluminized catbacks and in the NE, they lasted between 4-5 years for me. Like was said before, you have to plan on replacing it at some point in harsher weather areas.
